There have been many conflicts between the races of ‘Humas’, ‘Gabranth’, and ‘Evila’.
To combat the ‘Evila’ race’s Demon King, the kingdom summons five high school students
from 21st century Japan who have the power of Heroes. However, only four out of the five students had the status title of ‘Hero’. Okamura Hiro was summoned by accident since he sat near the other four students in class. Unlike them, he did not have the title of a ‘Hero’ but instead had the title of ‘Word Master’
and ‘Innocent Bystander’.
Seeing through the ‘Humas’ kingdom’s deceit and insanity,
Hiro decides that he has no wish to partake in their selfish war. Leaving the castle, Hiro decides to join the Adventurer’s Guild and does whatever he feels like. This manga likely chronicles Hiro’s adventures after he leaves to join the Adventurer’s guild.
As a ‘Word Master,’ Hiro probably has a magical or supernatural ability connected to words, language, and communication. The exact nature of this power is likely revealed over the course of the story. Despite not being a traditional combat-focused ‘Hero,’
Hiro’s ability probably gives him a unique set of skills that allows
him to get out of dangerous situations in creative ways. The ‘Innocent Bystander’ title suggests Hiro did not mean to get caught up in the conflict between the races but was an accidental summon by the kingdom. However, now that he has arrived in this new world, he is determined to live life on his own terms without serving a particular side.
Hiro’s relaxed and carefree personality contrasts with the war and intrigue plaguing the world. While the four summoned ‘Heroes’ and the kingdom deal with threats from the ‘Evila’ race and the Demon King, Hiro is free to go on various adventures. However, his amazing and mysterious power as ‘Word Master’ will probably continue to draw others to him despite his desire to remain uninvolved. The manga likely explores themes of individual freedom and responsibility with Hiro representing someone trying to live freely and be true to himself.
